Who We Are
BadBolts.com was originally an online database kept for the routes of the Red River Gorge by Team Suck.
Seeing the need for a better solution for tracking bolts, and using crowd sourcing to submit these bolts, BadBolts.com was born.
Our Mission
BadBolts.com serves as the climbing community's critical safety infrastructure - a comprehensive database that crowdsources the reporting and tracking of dangerous, worn, or degraded climbing bolts and anchors worldwide. Our platform prevents climbing accidents by creating a systematic way for climbers to document suspect hardware they encounter, enabling swift identification and repair of potentially life-threatening bolt failures.
When climbers report questionable bolts through our system, they're contributing to a safety net that protects the entire climbing community from hardware-related accidents.
Recognition & Growth
BadBolts.com got major attention at the Access Fund's Future of Fixed Anchors Conference in November of '12, where we discussed issues, techniques, and hardware with other developers from around the world.
In April of 2016 and again later, The Access Fund held additional conferences for the Future of Fixed Anchors, where we were in attendance. The concern for documenting hardware, condition, and replacement continues to grow.
